The Costs of Tattoo Removal

Tattoos all around are expensive. I mean think about it. It could cost hundreds to thousands to put them on, hundreds to maintain them and hundreds to thousands to remove them. People have their own reasons for not wanting tattoos anymore. Gang related tattoos are the only ones that can be removed for free. Traumatic tattoos (due to car accidents, skin defects, i.e.) are the only ones that can be removed with the help of insurance. The rest of us have to pay the price.

Lasers are the most popular by far and can range anywhere between $250 per session to $3000 for the removal in its entirety. IPL’s are slightly more expensive than lasers due to the fact that it’s still remotely new. You will definitely spend a few thousand removing your tattoo by this method. Older methods like Cryosurgery, Excision and Salabrasion will only cost a few hundred bucks, however these methods are known as the harshest and need excessive healing time. Surgical and Dermabrasion treatments could cost around a thousand dollars too. However these methods don’t necessary require such as long healing periods.

Fade away methods or creams can eventually be just as expensive. These applications do cost less initially, but these methods are known for taking the longest to remove a tattoo. Tiny tattoos could take up to a year, and once you start calculating the monthly costs, well, do the math. Tattoo removal kits like Dermasal could take just as long, and could end up costing you around $2000. Each kit contains a one month supply priced at $100 but it could take up to 18 months to remove your tattoo.
The Verapulse C laser is the newest laser on the market and definitely shows how far technology has come along. Removing large tattoos in 1 to 3 sessions, this method could cost anywhere from $500 to $1200 per session. Rejuvi is another method that is unique because it mimics the process of putting on a tattoo. Meaning you use a coil tattoo gun to inject the chemicals into the skin. Only 3-7 treatments are needed to complete this process, costing around $80 for a one month supply.
Remember, most doctors will give you a better ballpark figure during your consultations. If you choose not to use a professional, make sure you research all the products on the market to determine if the one you choose is the right one for you. Also consider the fact that all of these methods require multiple treatments. Multiple treatments mean multiple dollars. Removing tattoos takes time, patience and most importantly MONEY!
