Skin Grafts Tattoo Removal
Skin Grafting isn’t a new procedure. However, it hasn’t been thought of as a tattoo removal method until recently. Rapper and producer Pharrell Williams of hip hop group N.E.R.D., is planning on spending thousands of dollars on a new treatment to remove majority of his tattoos.
The hip hop mogul is tired of the body art located on his arms and has signed up to undergo a new method of removing them. It will involve scientists growing skin grafts in a lab under close observation. Pharrell tells sources he doesn't care how expensive or painful the procedure is as long as it gets rid of his tattoos.
He says, "It's going to be pricey, but f’ it, it's worth it. I got fire on my arms! I'm a grown man! There's an institute called the Wake Forest Institute in North Carolina for Regenerative Skin Treatment.” He goes on to say “it's basically like getting a skin graft, but you're not taking skin from your ass or your legs. These guys actually grow the skin for you. First you have to give them a sample of your skin, which they then replicate. Once that's been done, they sew it on, and it's seamless."
Not to have anyone think this treatment’s soul purpose is to return the skin back to its normal state, he adds, "When it has healed you can go get whatever tattoo you want."
Besides tattoo removal, this treatment is also beneficial to burn victims and people with wounds that refuse to heal. Scientists have shown that human skin grown in the laboratory can be used successfully in what could be called "skin transplants". The F.D.A. considers the products to be major advances beyond current treatments and approved this method in 1996.
Once the skin is done growing in the laboratory, studies have shown that the cultured skin applied to a wound is biologically active, helping the other cells to heal as they are supposed to. DNA analysis also has showed that the cultured skin "takes," meaning it grows as though it were the person's natural skin.
Everyone’s skin goes through a complete and continuous regeneration within three weeks. However, heal time could take much longer if you're having difficulty healing properly due to prior medical conditions or severe wounds. There are risks that your blood and immune system could reject the skin grafts. Scarring and infection are also risks after the surgery.
